About me…

Some writing related education/work experience:

  • Masters in English and Comparative Literature.

  • Worked as a IGCSE literature and English teacher.

  • Worked as a writing coach at a Freshman writing centre.

I write children’s novels mostly set in and inspired by Cairo, Egypt, where I live with my husband, 4 children, and adopted street-cat, Moxie. When I’m not writing, editing, or plotting my next novel, you’ll probably find me reading with a cup of coffee or binging on period dramas, preferably British. I’m also a horse-crazy football/Swiftie mum.

Some professional development I’ve done:

  • Developmental Editing: Fiction Theory (Sophie Playle: Liminal Pages)

  • Developmental Editing for Fiction (Editorial Arts Academy, Pat Dobie)

  • 12 week course on Writing for Children and Young Adults (Golden Egg Academy)

  • Over a year’s experience of working with other agented writers as a Critique partner (Inked Voices)

As an editor…

  • I am agented by Lucy Irvine at Peter, Fraser and Dunlop, UK.

  • My fantasy trilogy is being published by Chicken House Books, UK.

  • My debut novel, Aliya to the Infinite City, was short-listed for the Times Chicken House prize in 2021.

  • My debut series was a 2024 lead title for Chicken House books and has sold to a major German publisher.

  • Aliya to the Infinite City was picked by the Guardian as one of the best middle grade books to come out in February 2024.
